About the project
The PRTD aims to restore social capital, cultural capital and intangible capital.
« restore degraded land and promote climate-resilient growth »
The Degraded Lands Restoration Project aims to rebuild their ecological integrity, and to act on a large scale by implementing sub-projects on the Malian areas of the Great Green Wall. It will also improve people's lives with employment opportunities and capacity building in areas related to natural resource management. The project approach is based on the nexus between the degradation of natural resources, the impacts of climate change and social conflicts and seeks to simultaneously restore social, natural and cultural capital. The project will strengthen national capacity to implement the Determined contributions National level (CDN) and a conflict prevention strategy in its intervention area. Sustainable investments in degraded areas are also planned to restore their physical and social functions and increase climate resilience. It will also improve market access for non-wood forest products and fishery products through productive alliances.
