The Ministry of the Environment, Sanitation and Sustainable Development, through the Degraded Lands Restoration Project (PRTD-Mali), conducted on 29 January 2026 the official launch of the Master's Degree in Sustainable Development Engineering and Environmental Management (IDDME), an excellence training dedicated to the preparation of a new generation of managers committed to Mali's ecological transition and climate resilience.

The ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Environment, Sanitation and Sustainable Development, who, in his speech, presented the training as the result of a vision led by the Government of Mali with the support of the World Bank to strengthen national expertise in the environmental and climate fields.

On behalf of the World Bank, the Head of Operations for the Sahel and Central Africa recalled that the Master IDDME aims to train professionals capable of designing, implementing and evaluating policies and projects that integrate environmental, social and climate dimensions.

The ceremony brought together several members of the Government, technical and financial partners, ambassadors and diplomatic advisers, academic leaders, the National Coordinator of PRTD-Mali, the teaching staff and students from the first cohort.

It was marked by the signing of the partnership agreements with the host institution of the Master and the presentation of a review of the first two years of implementation of the PRTD-Mali.
