At CITES COP20 in Samarkand, Mali actively participated in African discussions on the protection of the plant and animal kingdom, with debates on endangered species, including elephants, felines, pangolins, turtles and tropical woods.

The Malian team participated in a technical exchange around the proposed amendments aimed at, inter alia, the seven species of ray-guitars and the strengthening of measures to combat wildlife trafficking.

During a session led by the NGO Elephant Protection Initiative Foundation, extensive discussions focused on the conservation of elephants in West Africa, which paves the way for a future collaboration dedicated to the protection of the elephants of Mali.
