The Project for the Restoration of Degraded Lands in Mali (PRTD-Mali) held this Tuesday, November 25, 2025 in Bamako, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Environment, Sanitation and Sustainable Development.
This national initiative, supported by the World Bank, brought together the governors, representatives of the regional councils of the beneficiary regions, the representative of the World Bank, the managers of the Ministry, members of the Project Management Unit, as well as several institutional actors.
The session began with the welcome of the National Coordinator of PRTD-Mali, who recalled the importance of this dialogue platform in guiding the implementation of the project and strengthening the alignment of interventions with national priorities.
Following this, a video screening allowed participants to visualize the concrete results already achieved on the ground, including Mopti's major works, the development of the Konna channel, the restoration of the landscapes in Youwarou and the evolution of productive fisheries alliances.
At the heart of this session was the review of the 2025 annual review, marked by significant progress despite the often difficult context. Participants also reviewed the draft Work Plan and Annual Budget 2026, a document that will guide the project's interventions for the coming year.
The Minister welcomed the progress made, while recalling the importance of rigorous leadership, enhanced collaboration and implementation in line with the commitments made under the Funding Agreement.
She pointed out that PRTD-Mali today represents one of the major initiatives taken by the highest authorities of the Transition, under the leadership of the President of the Transition, Head of State, His Excellency the General of the Assimi GOITA Army. The project has an ambitious vision of a greener, more resilient and more prosperous Mali, where restoration of degraded land is a mechanism for stability, growth and empowerment of people.
In closing, the Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Mali to continue its engagement with the World Bank and all national partners in order to make PRTD-Mali one of the most successful projects in the national portfolio.
Finally, the documents were validated by committee members.
