The Government of Mali obtained a loan from the World Bank to finance the
Niger River Economic and Environmental Rehabilitation Project in Mali (PREEFN).
The project has two main components. The first component consists of:
address critical points that reduce the length of the river's airworthiness and completion
port infrastructure (river docks); the second aims to improve living conditions
the opening of irrigation channels and
other development activities. This extensive work will eventually have a
impact on the biophysical environment and/or human and socio-economic environments.
