Mali celebrates the 3rd edition of the Journées du Poisson: Signing of the protocol of agreement of productive alliances worth 7 billion grants to modernise and diversify the fish sector!

Today, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Keeper of Seals, accompanied by several members of the Government, including the Minister of Environment, Sanitation and Sustainable Development. The 3rd edition of the Days Fish was a highlight to reaffirm the strategic importance of the fishing industry.

This third edition was marked by the symbolic signature of the Memorandum of Understanding in the framework of the establishment of productive alliances for an amount of CFAF 7 billion of grants involving inter-occupation, the National Fisheries Directorate, the engaged buyers and the Degraded Lands Restoration Project (PRTD-Mali).

This amount will be allocated to the financing of 380 carefully selected business plans. These alliances aim to modernize and diversify the sector while strengthening the resilience of fishing-dependent communities.

Through these alliances, the Government of Mali, in partnership with the World Bank, sets ambitious goals: building local productive capacity, creating sustainable jobs and ensuring food security for all Malians. This initiative is not limited to modernizing the sector, but also seeks to make it a pillar of economic sovereignty and sustainability in Mali.

In this dynamic, the representative of the World Bank's Director of Operations, Mr. Coulibaly Abdramane and the Minister of Environment, Sanitation and Sustainable Development, highlighted the strategic role of fisheries in food security, job creation and community resilience. They also highlighted the ambitions of the World Bank-funded Degraded Land Restoration Project (PRTD-Mali), which focuses on the sustainable management of natural resources.

During the visits to the stands, the PRTD National Coordinator, Mr Diallo Madou highlighted the impact of productive alliances on local communities.

It was noted that the PRTD-Mali stands attracted many participants, who came to discover the innovative initiatives of the project.
