The Ministry of the Environment, Sanitation and Sustainable Development, through the General Directorate of Waters and Forests, opened on Tuesday 28 October 2025 at the Centre Diamcis in Banankoro (Koulikoro region) the validation workshops of the Planning and Management Plans for Forest Massifs, Classified Forests and Protected Areas, within the framework of the Degraded Lands Restoration Project (PRTD).

The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Director General of Waters and Forests and the PRTD National Coordinator, as well as numerous representatives of technical services and partner organisations.

The main objective of these meetings is to analyse, validate and enrich the development and management plans developed to ensure the rational and sustainable use of forest and wildlife resources. They also aim to promote the restoration of the forest landscape, strengthen the resilience of riparian populations and contribute to combating the effects of climate change.

The workshops will continue for two weeks and will cover forest massifs, classified forests and protected areas.
