On 21 March 2025, Mali's Prime Minister, Abdoulaye Maiga, officially launched a productive alliance programme for non-wood forest products (NPFP). This event was held on the margins of the celebration of International Forest Day. The ceremony brought together several personalities, including the Minister of the Environment, Sanitation and Sustainable Development, the Ministers responsible for Agriculture, Trade, Malians living outside Mali and Livestock, members of the National Transitional Council (CNT), representatives of the World Bank, technical services of the State, civil society and the private sector. This ambitious project aims to make sustainable use of the country's forest resources, threatened by abuse. Objectives and funding of the programme The objectives of the programme are clearly defined: creating efficient and environmentally sound value chains, generating wealth for local people, structuring and modernizing a sector with high economic and social potential, strengthening resilience and food security, and creating sustainable jobs
